The Korean War began on June 25 of 1950. About 75,000 from the North Korean army appeared around the boundary between North Korea and South Korea. This was the first military action during the Cold War. Soon before July American troops entered war supporting South Korea. As far as it concerned the Americans this was a war against communism. Finally in July of 1953, the war came to an end. About 5 million soldiers were killed. To this day the Korean Peninsula is still divided.
