In 1962, the leaders of the Soviet Union and the U.S disagreed over the installation of nuclear-armed Soviet missiles on Cuba. This was a tense 13 day military and political argument because the U.S thought that the Soviet Union could invade Florida and gain territory. The U.S made a statement that they were ready to use any of their military forces and they were going to build a naval blockade around Cuba. The people were starting to get worried about a nuclear war and the destruction of their homes. The Soviet Union's leader, Nikita Khrushchev, offered to remove the Cuban missiles if the U.S does not invade Cuba. The U.S then decided to get ride of their missiles in Turkey because they thought that it would be a fair agreement.
